DESCRIPTION: Length up to 13mm.  A lovely looking beetle with a coppery to greenish tinted sheen to the head, thorax and elytra.  There is a keel on the basal antennal segments. The head is punctured behind the yes, the internal margin of the hind tibiae have 8 to 11 pale setae. BEHAVIOUR: This beetle is active on the warm days of spring and early summer when they disperse by flight. They are generally crepuscular and nocturnal though where the feed on worms and slugs and occasionally seeds. DISTRIBUTION: Common but local across southern England and south Wales. Records become scarcer towards the North. HABITAT: Open woodland, woodland edges, grassland, and open dry habitats. PERIOD: Can be seen all year round.
